Floating Ship Design - Introduction to 3D Modelling

Classic Vessel, Design #2
Painting by Myself
Here I went for a more geometry heavy concept, believing it would make my model less reliant on texture. I am however, unsure of my ability to effectively render details like the figurehead in Max. Stylistically - I wanted to describe the painterly nature I aim to texture my model with - utilising hand painted texturing techniques and hard baked lighting.

Modern Vessel, Design #1
Painting by Myself
My initial concept was blocky but stylised. A choice I made to ensure it was within my modelling ability. Also making it straight-forward to UV map.

I was inspired by the elevation of my chosen location (Everest) to pursue a flying or airborne object. Aiming also to create a fantastical feature to add the the environment I was reminded of airships common throughout the steampunk era.

Everest
My chosen 'Geo-location'
Everest was an easy choice for me given its clean geometry and vast levels of elevation. The snowy, un-intrusive palette would also be an effective backdrop for my model.
